Your Hot Water Heater Is Costing You Twice As Much As It Should?
That big round tank full of hot water in your basement is costing you a lot of money. It is a terribly inefficient piece of equipment. For every $1 that you spend to heat the water for your shower only about 60 cents of it actually heats water. The other 40 cents go straight up the chimney. Have you ever felt the pipe that comes out of the middle of your hater water heater and goes into your chimney. It’s super hot and could burn you severely. That’s your forty cent from every dollar being wasted.
Here’s how hot water heaters work and why they are costing you big time.
That tank likely holds 30,40, or 50 gallons of water. All of those gallons of water are held at a constant temperature by your hot water heater. Your hot water heater cycles on and off all day and night in an effort to keep that water hot. Even if you have been away on vacation for a month your hot water heater has been keeping that water ready for your return home. That’s problem number one.
Problem number two. The second you turn on the hot water in your shower you drain down the amount of hot water in your tank. The tank immediately begins to fill back up with cold water from your pipes. Gallons of hot water are being replaced by gallons of cold water by the minute. Your hot water heater can’t keep up and it eventually falls behind. We have all run out of hot water in the shower and this is exactly why.
There’s a product that has been on the market for a long time that:
- Can cut your domestic hot water heating bill by 50%. That’s no exaggeration and has been proven again and again.
- Will never leave you standing in a cold shower again.
- Is only as big as a briefcase and hangs on your wall. No more big water tanks stuffed in closets or in the middle of your basement.
This product is know very simply as a tankless hot water heater. They are only gaining popularity now because of the drastic increases in the cost of the energy to heat water.
Buying a traditional hot water heater has been the right choice until recently. A tankless model is a bigger investment but they really will pay for themselves with savings in gas, oil, and electric consumption.
They simply work by heating water only when you need it and as you need it. They don’t heat a surplus of water that you may or may not use. They burn fuel for a fraction of the time that traditional hot water heaters do.
Nearly all of the fuel burned goes to actually heating the water. You could place your hand over the exhaust pipe and hardly feel any heat when compared to traditional hot water heaters. Very little waste is created.
