We Were Iced Over This Morning
What happened overnight with Stratford CT’s weather. I walked out the fron door and immediately fell right on my butt. The steps were a complete sheet of ice. I didn’t think it rained last night but somehow my steps and fron porch were a skating rink. Scary stuff!
I’m just thankful that it was me who was first out the door this morning to test out those steps. I would have felt pretty horrible if one of the small fries went out first and fell down, even though they have much less farther to fall than all 6′6″ of me.

The Waterfront Community of Lordship In Stratford CT
Regrettably, I don’t live in the community of Lordship here in Stratford CT. I do love to visit though.
It’s a wonderful waterfront community. My favorite thing to do in Lordship is ride my bike. I can get from my house over by Nichols Elementary School, where my kids go, to Sikorsky Airport in about fifteen minutes. It’s an easy ride as most of the bike ride is down Main Street Rt. 113 has a very wide bike lane.
Once you get past Sikorsky Airport you are in Lordship. You’ll pass by Short Beach soon after the airport. Lordship offers a nine hole golf course there at the beach. It’s a great par 3. The name, Short Beach Golf Course, isn’t very original but the inexpensive price for Stratford residents really makes up for it.
If you’re checking out Lordship here in Stratford CT for the first time you have to make a stop at the seawall. It’s on Beach Drive and it’s a wonderful addition to the community. Assuming you drove, park the car along the seawall and take a walk along it. The views from the seawall in Lorship are pretty spectacular, especially at sunrise and at sunset.

Sunset At Short Beach In Lordship
There are some really wonderful homes in Lorship. In my eyes there are two types of homes in Stratford’s Lordship community. When I drive or ride down the road I see homes that have been remodeled and are some of the most valuable and eye pleasing homes in town. But, I also see a fair number of homes that have not been remodeled yet.
These Lordship homes that have not been remodeled yet are the ones that I find most interesting. They sell for relatively inexpensive prices compared to the fully remodeled homes in this section of Stratford. Even though these homes need work, many of them still retain their seaside charm.
If you are looking to purchase a home in Stratford or just want to keep an eye on the market you can do so without having myslef or any other real estate agent ever call you to harass you. Fill in the form below and I will get you all set up forautomatic emails that will help you stay one step ahead of all other house hunters in Lordship or any other part of Stratford. The part of this service that I pride myself on is always giving you the correct property address and having accurate up to date property listings.

Hello Stratford House Hunters
It’s been a great holiday season and I feel like I am getting back into the groove after taking some time off. A belated happy holidays everyone!
Wow, are there a lot of houses for sale around Stratford right now. It’s amazing just how many homes are on the market. Today I took a tour and saw a heck of a lot of for sale signs. Economy stinks but your still out there looking for a home in Stratford. I know you (maybe anyway) are because you are here reading this.
The truth is that there are some really great deals to be had right now as well as very low rates for mortgages. That’s the good news. You know the bad news. Homes in Stratford CT, just like the rest of the country, wont be a good short term “investment”. Don’t think that if you buy a house in Stratford today it will be worth the same amount in 12 months.
Can you stomach that? I can actually. My house in worth less than it was when I bought it. It doesn’t matter though because I am not planning on moving for a long time. Home prices will rise.
Happy house hunting future and current Stratford residents.

Sterling House - Christmas - Charity 2008

Christmas Charity Plan For 2009
I can’t call it an event yet but I am shooting for a mini-event for Christmas 2009.
Here’s what my family and I did this year. Instead of giving gifts we elected to give money to Stratford’s Sterling House in the form of sponsoring a family. We collected a total of $350 between us and “adopted” a family. We bought toys for two children and a single Mom who had recently transplanted her family from somewhere down south.
She very much appreciated what we had done and I want to do it again next year. A little different for 2009 though. Here’s the goal for Christmas 2009:
Donate a total of $1000 to sponsor three families through Sterling House in Stratford CT.
I can’t do this alone but I’m not sure exactly how to go about this. I’m going to start here with this blog and hit up my readers and subscribers to help me out. I’m going to create a seperate page on this blog to track our progress. Tonight the wheels are turning, tomorrow I will have a fully laid out plan. A new link will appear here tomorrow. Watch for it.
I have never done anything like this before. Wish me luck!
Advice? Want to help? Leave me a comment with your suggestions or subscribe and help me out when you are ready. I’ll be here all year.

It’s Always Great To See My Grandparents
I’m very fortunate. I am thirty one years old and both of my grandparents on my mothers side are still alive. Yes, they are very old and a mere shell of the people that they used to be but they are still happy to see me and their great grandchildren.
My grandparents live out in Long Island. It’s about a two hour trip from here in Stratford. I picked up my parents and my sister on the way there and picked up some coffee on the way.
My gradparent can be a little lifeless at times. They get occassionally confused and sometimes don’t know who I am. I learned something very interesting from them though. I learned how to bring them back and have a conversation with them. I learned how to get them to talk again and interact with me like when I was ten again.
